All Exhibitors for prizes are required to comply with the following rules:
Entries can be made either online or on paper forms in the Croxley Show Schedule (list of entries/classes) available in the library, Parish Council Office or from The Committee.
Payment of fees: If entries are made on paper forms, they need to be taken to John Jowers (Show secretary) 91 Kenilworth Drive, Croxley Green WD3 3NN. Latest date for delivering entries is Monday evening 9th September 2024.
If entries are made online they need to be sent by to mail@croxleyshow.co.uk by Monday evening 9th September 2024.
If you send the entries online, payment can be made on the morning of the Show when exhibits are taken for display.
The Show Secretary has discretion to accept late entries.
The Judges: The decisions of the Judges are final. No exhibitor is to make more than one entry in the same Class.
Exhibition tips: Our tips are given to help you impress the judges. The judges are trained to judge exhibits in shows such as ours. They follow very rigorous rules which they apply. It is important to follow the tips we have given you.
One very important tip for all classes is to read the schedule carefully. If it says 4 carrots, don’t enter 3 or 5! If it says one variety, don’t enter 3! The judges are kind and caring people but ‘rules are rules’!
Online Schedule: On the online schedule you can click on many classes to see a photo of the entry and read an exhibition tip.
The photos are there to give you an idea of what the exhibits look like but BEWARE! The photos do not necessarily show the correct numbers of the variety to be exhibited.
CHECK THE SCHEDULE FOR THE CORRECT NUMBER TO BE ENTERED IN THE CROXLEY SHOW.
Vegetables: Exhibition tips are given on the presentation of the vegetable classes both online and on the paper version of the schedule. If a vegetable is entered for which no exhibition tips are available please The RHS Handbook – available online.
There are also many helpful online sites such as:
Vegetables should be washed but check the exhibition tips before removing stems, roots, outer leaves etc – there are rules relating to these.
Vegetables should not be polished.
Class 1 - Collection of Vegetables, (any four kinds). The number of vegetables shown must be in accordance with RHS rules – see the table giving the maximum points and number of each vegetable to be entered. Some vegetables carry more points than others so three perfect sticks of rhubarb may not gain as many points as three less than perfect leeks. The Collections of Vegetables may be staged in parsley, moss or other suitable material. They can also be mounted on boards. Space allowed must not exceed three feet in width.
Fruit should not be polished as this will impair natural bloom.
All fruits other than peaches and nectarines, should be shown complete with stalk.
Judging classes will be conducted under R.H.S., N.C.S and N.S.S. rules, and blooms should be shown as specified in schedule.
All entries for the Handicraft, Liqueur, Children’s and Photography classes must be the work of the exhibitor.
Any protest or objection must be made to the Show Secretary
While taking all possible care of the exhibits, the Committee shall not be responsible for any loss or damage that may arise.
The cups remain the property of the Croxley Show Committee and must be returned to the Secretary by the winner at once in the event of the holder leaving the district, or not later than one month before the next year’s show. The cups are insured by the Committee.
All exhibits entered must be staged between 8:00am and 10.45am on the morning of the Show, after which time all exhibitors must leave the hall. No exhibit must be removed before completion of prize giving.
Cards corresponding to the entries will be handed to exhibitors on the morning of the Show and must be placed, name down, with their exhibits.
All prize money to be collected by close of the Show.
